To be eligible to use our online payment services, U.S.-based nonprofits must meet all of the following conditions.
- Official legal status: the organization must hold active 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status with the IRS. Other designations—such as 501(c)(4) civic leagues, 501(c)(6) business leagues, and 527 political groups—are not eligible.
- Charitable mission: the organization's primary activity must be charitable, religious, social, or educational. Organizations acting as political parties, political fundraising entities, or political advocacy groups are not supported. - Direct control over funding: the organization must directly manage and control the projects it funds. It cannot act as an "intermediary" or simply pass along funds raised on behalf of third parties.
- Supported beneficiary regions: funds or goods collected can only be distributed to end beneficiaries located in a supported region (see the "See which beneficiary regions are supported for distributing funds" section of this article).
