Configuring which fields are visible and editable in a member's profile lets an administrator define, for each profile field in the contact database (Community), whether it can be viewed and/or edited by the member themselves once they log in to their member space. Your members can then update their own information without any action on your part.

How does a member access their profile?
Whether or not you use a Springly website, your members can log in to their profile through your site's login page.
Once on their profile page, the member clicks the Update profile button.
How do I create or customize profile fields in the Community?
If needed, you can collect all the information you need about contacts in your Community (your user database).
To do this, go to Community > Settings. From there, you can create new profile fields and add fields specific to certain contacts in your database using groups.
How do I make a profile field viewable and/or editable by the member?
Once these fields are created, you can define which ones members can edit and which ones they can only view on their profile page.
To configure these settings:
- Log in to your administration space.
- Go to Community > Settings.
- Locate the relevant field in the section specific to your organization: the default fields provided by Springly are not affected by this setting.
- Click the pencil icon on the field you want to edit.
- In the window that opens, choose the field's visibility.
- The registrant themselves: the member can view this information on their profile.
- Administrators only: the information remains hidden from the member.
- Choose whether the member can edit this information themselves, or whether only an administrator can.
- Save, then repeat for each field you want to configure.
Expected result: from My account > View my profile, the logged-in member sees the fields you made visible and can edit those you opened for editing via the Update profile button.
Does this setting also apply to forms and ticketing?
Yes: profile fields configured this way can also be requested in your forms and campaigns. To learn more, see our articles Choose the general settings for your forms and campaigns, Create your membership form, and Create a donation form for your nonprofit.
What if a member has already filled in information that needs to be updated?
To ask a member to update information already entered in their profile, see our article Access your profile and edit your personal information.
