If your Springly website includes a members-only area, you can show or hide a Login button in your site's top menu. This button gives your members direct access to the members area — no hidden page required. Prerequisite: you must have already created a members area on your nonprofit's website.

Why add a login button to the members area?
Giving your members a dedicated space comes with real benefits, including:
- Access to private resources that you don't want to share with the general public — team schedules, members-only articles, and more. It adds value to membership and makes targeted resource sharing effortless.
- The ability to update their own profile — a new address, a different phone number, and so on. Your member database stays current without you having to lift a finger!
How to show or hide the login button
- From your platform, go to Website > Settings and theme, then click the area that manages your Header.
- On your website's Home page that appears, click on the menu banner.
- Check or uncheck the Login checkbox.
- Checked: the login button is visible in the top menu.
- Unchecked: the login button is hidden.
- Click Save.
The Login button will immediately appear or disappear from your public site's top menu.
How to manage sign-up requests for the members area
You can configure this access by going to: Website > Settings and theme, then clicking the Sign-up Page & Profile button at the bottom of the page.
You'll have several options to choose from.
You can choose to:
- Disable sign-ups entirely: no third party will be able to create an account to access the members area.
- Allow open sign-ups: anyone who wants to can create an account and access the area.
- Require approval for sign-ups: in this case, account creation requests will appear on your Contacts page (Community > Contacts), and you can moderate them manually.
For more information on this topic, check out the article on login / sign-up pages.
By default, "No" is selected. Third parties cannot create an account or access a members-only area.
What happens if the button is displayed but sign-ups are disabled?
If the Login button is displayed but sign-ups are disabled, only people who already have an account in your platform can log in. Other visitors cannot create an account — no sign-up form is shown to them. Any changes to this setting take effect immediately on your public site.
You now have everything you need to manage access to your members area — making things easier for you and your community!
