This article covers the following topics:
View a member's membership period
When creating your membership form or adding a person as a member, you define the membership period.
To view a member's membership period, go to that person's profile from the Community > Contacts page.
A member is identified by the 🏅 symbol. Click Detail 👁 to access their profile.
Once on their profile, click the Memberships tab to view their membership period.
View the list of memberships
A membership form allows members of your nonprofit or the general public to join. You can register members yourself from the administrator area, or enable online sign-up so members can register on their own.
You can access your member list either through the Contacts list or through your membership form.
In the Contacts list
When someone joins through a membership form, they become a member and their profile is automatically created in your member database if it doesn't already exist.
If the person is already in your database, the software will recognize them and add the new membership period to their profile.
Go to Community > Contacts to filter your members by Members and Former Members. All members are displayed, across all membership forms.
The small yellow medal badges make it easy to spot your nonprofit's members.
Member searches are performed by month for performance reasons. A search for members as of September 28, 2017 will display all people who were members at any point during September 2017. The exact membership period is shown by day on the individual profile page.
On the membership form
Go to Community > Memberships, then click "Manage" for the form you're interested in.
Open the "Members" tab: the list of members for that form will appear.
On member profile pages
On a member's profile page (accessible from Community > Contacts, then the Details button for the person in question), you'll find several tabs, including a "Memberships" tab that lets you track each member's membership history.
Viewing former members
The software makes managing your members easy: you can track both current members and former members within your community.
What is a member, and what is a former member?
In Springly, a member is someone who pays a membership fee to the nonprofit. A member is a contact in the database who is linked to the nonprofit through a financial transaction.
Member status is valid for a set period: when someone joins the nonprofit, they are counted as a member for a defined period (which you set).
Since a member status has a limited duration, the software considers as "former members" all people who have been members and whose membership date has passed.
How to tell a member from a former member?
On the Community page
On the Community page, you can quickly see who is a current member and who is not (or no longer) a member using the "Filter" tool.
On the contact's profile
On a person's profile, their membership history is available in the memberships section.
You can view their membership history: periods during which the person was a member are shown in green, and periods during which they were not a member are shown in gray.
