If you have a promo code for a discount, follow these steps to enter it when subscribing: Enter a promo code.
Activate a code on an existing Subscription
If you have a valid promo code, you can activate it to apply the discount at your next Subscription renewal date:
- If you chose a monthly plan, your discount applies at renewal—the following month.
- For an annual Subscription, the discounted rate also applies at renewal—one year after your initial signup.
Note: The promo code must be valid on your Subscription renewal date, or it won't be applied.
Update with Subscription change
If you change your plan or billing period (monthly to annual, for example), the update is straightforward. See this section if you're activating the code while keeping the same plan/period.
Go to Settings > Subscription, then click Change Subscription.
Select the number of Contacts to include in your Subscription, then check "Save 20% with a 1-year commitment" to switch from monthly to annual billing (or uncheck to return to monthly). Click Next to confirm.
You can also switch to a different plan type (for example, Professional instead of Serenity) by clicking Explore other offers.
Next, enter your promo code, then confirm your Subscription:
Update without Subscription change
The process is the same as changing your Subscription, except you'll select the billing period/plan you originally chose with your initial Subscription.
Then enter your code and confirm the update.
After the update completes, an error message may appear. Your promo code will still be applied and will show on the Settings > Subscription page.
How Subscription updates work
Update process
Once the code is activated and your Subscription is updated:
- Your current Subscription closes and generates a Credit note for the unused portion.
- A new Subscription (monthly or annual) begins today and renews automatically at the next period.
A new invoice is issued. Its amount equals the new Subscription minus the Credit note for the unused period and the promo code discount.
If the new Subscription amount exceeds the Credit notes and promo code value, a new payment is collected. The update creates a new Subscription to settle within 3 days.
Example
You update an annual Subscription at $348 after 8 months and add a 10% promo code ($34.80). Here's what happens:
- A Credit note of $116 is issued for the unused period (4 months of 12).
- An invoice for $348 – ($116 + $34.80) = $197.20 is generated.
- A new 1-year Subscription is created and a payment of $197.20 is collected.
- After one year, the Subscription renews and an invoice for $348 – $34.80 = $313.20 is created.
