On a custom page of your Springly website, you can turn a word or an image into a clickable link — pointing to an internal page (another article, another page on the site) or to an external website — without displaying the "raw" URL. This article covers both cases:
Prerequisite: the custom page must already exist. If it doesn't, please first read the article Creating a custom page on your Springly website.
How to add a link to a word on a custom page?
Whether you're editing a page, an event, or an article, follow these steps:
- if you haven't already, place a text block on the central editing grid;
- then double-click on the text block once it's placed to enter text editing mode;
- select the word or words of your choice, then click the Link button
.
A small window will open. From there, you can:
- enter the URL of the page you want to link to (paste the link into the "URL" field);
- review or edit the text displayed — that is, the words you had selected;
- change the link type: for example, you can have the word point to an email address or a phone number instead of a page.
The "Target" and "Advanced" tabs let you fine-tune the link settings further. Feel free to skip them if you just need a simple link.
Once you've filled in the information, click OK to confirm. The word will then appear in blue and underlined, indicating it contains a clickable link.
How to add a link to an image on a custom page?
Adding a link to an image block
To add a link to an image block:
- place the image block on the grid, or click on the image if it's already placed;
- click "Link" in the toolbar on the left.
In the window that opens, specify:
- Link to: whether the link should point to another website, or to a page on your Springly website;
- URL / Page: enter the URL / page (based on your first choice under "Link to");
- Target: specify whether clicking the link should replace the page the visitor was on ("Current page"), or open in a new tab / new window. Note that if you choose "Current page" and link to another website, visitors will leave your site.
Click OK to confirm: the image block becomes clickable and redirects to the chosen destination when visitors view the published page.
Add a link to an image inserted in a text block
To add a link to an image inserted in a text block:
- double-click the text block (already placed on the central grid);
- click the "Image" icon
in the text editing panel.
- in the window that opens, go to the "Upload" tab;
- click "Choose a file", select the file of your choice from your computer, then click "Send to server";
- then go to the "Link" tab and enter the URL of your choice;
- finally click OK to save.
Please note: after uploading your image (sending it to the Springly server), you will be automatically redirected to the "Image Info" tab. A URL will be populated: this link corresponds to the image's storage URL and is filled in by default. Do not modify it: otherwise, your image will disappear.
The image then appears in the text block and becomes clickable: clicking it redirects to the URL entered in the Link tab.
What should I do if I want to add an image without a link on a custom page?
This article covers only adding a clickable link to a word or an image. To add an image without a link or create a gallery of multiple photos, see the articles "Add an image to a custom page", "Add an image to an article", and "Add or edit a photo gallery".
