Registrant controls are an advanced setting for Springly Forms and ticketing events: they limit the number of recorded sign-ups across four types of limits. The default configuration of a Form only includes a limited set of options. Enable registrant controls to access these four limits and apply them to your Forms and ticketing events.
- How do I enable registrant controls on Forms and ticketing events?
- How do I limit the total number of participants on a Form or ticketing event?
- How do I limit the number of participants for a specific rate or package?
- How do I limit the number of sign-ups per person on a Form?
- How do I restrict rates or packages to specific groups in my community?
To explore other advanced settings, see the Advanced Form settings section.
Note: The information in this article applies to all Form types available in Springly — Membership Campaigns, Donation Campaigns, ticketing events, and Product Sales — which all work in a similar way. Some terms (such as participants, members, or buyers) may vary depending on the Form type.
How do I enable registrant controls on Forms and ticketing events?
Note: Enabling these settings makes them available in various places throughout the configuration pages for all your Forms and ticketing events. You can then choose whether or not to use them.
- Go to Settings > Forms and ticketing.
- Toggle on (green) each type of limit you want to use.
The enabled limits will now appear in the configuration pages for all your Forms and ticketing events.
How do I limit the total number of participants on a Form or ticketing event?
If you have a limited number of spots for an event, for example, you can use this option to automatically close sign-ups once the cap is reached — no risk of overbooking.
Find this setting at step 4 - Payment and confirmation:
- Open your Form or ticketing event, then go to step 4 - Payment and confirmation.
- Below the payment method settings, click More options.
- Enter the total number of participants, memberships, or buyers for this Form.
- Click Save at the top of the page, or Publish at the bottom.
The Form will block new sign-ups once the number of participants you entered has been reached.
How do I limit the number of participants for a specific rate or package?
This works the same way as limiting the total number of participants on a Form or ticketing event, except the cap applies at the individual rate or package level.
Example: I have 6 spots for the English class, so I set 6 as the maximum for that rate.
Find this setting at step 2 - Rates (and packages):
- At step 2 - Rates (and packages), click Settings (gear icon) on the rate of your choice.
- Click + options.
- Check Limit the number of participants for this rate (or Maximum available quantity), then enter the maximum number of participants.
- Confirm the rate, then save the Form.
Once the maximum number of participants is reached, the rate is no longer available to registrants.
Limit the number of sign-ups per person on a Form
By default, when registering through a Form or ticketing event, your contacts can add another person. If you want to restrict this — for example, to allow individual sign-ups only — you can set a maximum number of sign-ups per end-user.
Find this setting at step 4 - Payment and confirmation:
- Open your Form or ticketing event, then go to step 4 - Payment and confirmation.
- Below the payment method settings, click More options.
- Enter the maximum number of times an end-user can sign up.
- Click Save at the top of the page, or Publish at the bottom.
The same end-user will no longer be able to sign up more times than the number you entered.
Restrict rates or packages to specific groups in your community
Group restrictions are available for Product Sales and Event forms only. They reserve certain rates for members, donors, or people belonging to a specific group. The Form itself remains visible to everyone — only the rate is restricted.
Find this setting at step 2 - Rates (and packages):
- At step 2 - Rates (and packages), click Settings (gear icon) on the rate of your choice.
- Click + options.
- Check Restrict to specific people (for online sign-ups only), then select the categories of people you want to allow.
- Confirm the rate, then save the Form.
Only people in the selected categories will see this rate when signing up online.
Good to know: To select a rate restricted to a group, your members must be logged in to their account at the time of sign-up.
Important: To access a rate restricted to a specific group, your members must be logged in to their accounts at the time of sign-up.
